Most metal application products use four steps: Clean, treat with rust converter, prime and topcoat. However, Dulux Metalshield® Rust Primer™ and Dulux Metalshield® Rust Defence™ reduce this application task to three steps – clean, prime and paint. For the best result, use Dulux Metalshield® Rust Primer™ to block and stop rust with Dulux Metalshield® Rust Defence™ to protect metals against rust and corrosion. Dulux Metalshield® Rust Defence™ is tintable to more than 1000 Dulux colours and various Colorbond® colours.

Preparation

Use a wire brush to remove any loose, flaked rust and paint.

Sand the surface to a smooth finish and wipe down with a cloth and mineral turpentine to remove any oil, grease or dirt.
