The Dulux Study Tour, in partnership with the Australian Institute of Architects, was developed in 2008 to foster the next generation of architectural talent.
Every year five emerging architects who demonstrate outstanding contributions to the architectural community are selected to join the tour of significant architectural projects and meet influential architects.
Dulux reconnected 60 past tour winners at a two-day alumni event in Melbourne in August 2023.
Alumni and guests toured the University of Melbourne student precinct, led by two of the project architects and Dulux Study Tour alumni, Jefa Greenaway from Greenaway Architect and Adam Pustola from Lyons.
Lyons with Koning Eizenberg Architecture, NMBW Architecture Studio, Greenaway Architects, Architects EAT, Aspect Studios and Glas Urban jointly designed the student precinct.
It was the most awarded project of the 2023 Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Awards, winning the Victorian Architecture Medal, Henry Bastow Award for Educational Architecture, Joseph Reed Award for Urban Design and an Architecture Award for Heritage Architecture – Creative Adaptation.
After the University of Melbourne visit, winners from the 2020, 2021 and 2023 tours shared their tour experiences and highlights with the alumni and guests from the Australian Institute of Architects, Architecture Media and Dulux at a dinner at the George Ballroom in St Kilda.
