About Metalshield® Hammered Finish
Dulux Metalshield® Hammered Finish is a durable, protective finish that can be applied to a wide range of metal and pre-painted surfaces. Metalshield® Hammered Finish is ideal for restoring metal surfaces and hiding surface imperfections such as scratches and joints.

Not suitable for use on polyolefin or fluoro polymer plastics.
Previously Painted Surfaces
Ensure the surface has thoroughly dried prior to application.
Aged/lightly rusted surfaces:
• Remove any rust by scraping, sanding or wire brushing.
• Wipe surface with Dulux Metalshield® Cold Galv Thinner to remove any residual grease, oils and dirt.
New bare steel, wrought iron:
• Wipe surface with Dulux Metalshield® Cold Galv Thinner to remove any residual grease, oils and dirt.
Galvanised iron:
• Clean surface with Dulux Metalshield® Cold Galv Thinner and a Scotch-Brite® Pad to remove any grease, oils and dirt.
• Rinse with clean water.
Brush, roller
• Stir contents thoroughly with a broad flat stirrer using a stirring, lifting action.
• Thinning is not usually required.
• For spraying, thin up to 100ml per litre with Dulux Metalshield® Brush Thinner or Dulux Metalshield® Spray Thinner.
• Stir well prior to applying two coats of Dulux Metalshield® Hammered Finish by brush, roller or spray to a suitably prepared surface.
• Application and drying temperatures must be above 10°C.
Note: Some plastics such as polyethylene do not allow for paint adhesion even with primers.
Test the plastic projects in an inconspicuous area first.
Unused paint
Waste rags contaminated with paint should be thoroughly soaked in water before adding to domestic waste collection.
Do not pour leftover paint down the drain.
Unwanted paint should be brushed out on newspaper and allowed to dry, and then disposed of via domestic waste collections.

Empty paint containers
Leave empty paint containers open in a well-ventilated area to dry out. When dry, recycle the container via steel can recycling programs.
Disposal of empty paint containers via domestic recycling programs may differ between local authorities. Check with your local council first.
Do not reuse container unless thoroughly decontaminated.
