The Lorne Beach House

In one of their biggest project to date, Hunting for George transformed a 1930s weatherboard beach shack into a modern coastal retreat in Lorne, along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. Colours featured: Dulux Sago and Natural White™.

A 1930s weatherboard restoration

A quintessential Australian beach house, the Hunting for George team sought to restore this ageing home while retaining the property’s existing charm. Embracing a modern, coastal look, this pared-back colour scheme exudes the relaxed vibes that the Victorian Surf Coast is known for.

Get the look

In keeping with the natural surroundings, Hunting for George selected a fresh and classic colour palette, creating an idyllic home away from home.

Dining room delight

An entertainer’s dream, this spacious dining room features a custom-built 10-seater dining table. Large floor-to-ceiling windows showcase breathtaking ocean views, softened by airy sheer curtains. Natural timber elements complement the soft, neutral colour scheme selected for this space.

Looking to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, the Hunting for George team selected the earthy neutral tones of Dulux Sago paired with Natural White™, tinted to half strength.

Made from scratch

Starting from scratch, Hunting for George created a modern coastal kitchen with a sense of nostalgia. Warm neutrals, timber, terracotta, brass, gold and fresh white create an inviting tonal palette, complementing the coastal atmosphere in the adjacent dining room.

Continuing the warm coastal colour palette, the kitchen features Dulux Sago and on walls with Natural White™, tinted to half strength on the ceiling.

Into the blue

No beach house would be complete without comfortable guest bedrooms – and guests will have no reason to be blue in this luscious sanctuary! Lovingly coined the ‘ocean room’ in reflection of the views, the bedroom features the rich, deep blue base of Dulux Press Agent.

As the hero colour of this guest bedroom, Dulux Press Agent is featured wall-to-wall, and is complemented by a crisp Natural White ceiling, tinted to half strength.

Greener pastures

A nod to the scenic bushlands view visible from the large window, the second bedroom is referred to by the family as the ‘bush room’. A parallel design to the first guest bedroom, this space showcases the natural, earthy green of Dulux Misty Moss.

Seeking to create a soft and calming environment, Hunting for George have selected Dulux Misty Moss as the key colour for this space, pairing it with Natural White for the ceiling, tinted to half strength.
