How To Guides
Poor stain resistance
Poor stain resistance is the failure of paint to resist the absorption of dirt and stains.
Possible Cause
This can be caused by the use of low quality paint or the application of paint to an unprimed surface.

Solution
Always choose a high quality water-based paint. These contain binders that have been specially formulated to prevent stains from penetrating the painted surface, meaning it’s easy to clean up any spills or accidents. Priming new surfaces also reduces the porosity of the substrate; the correct film thickness in the top coat will maximize stain resistance. We recommend using Dulux 1Step® Prep Primer, Sealer & Undercoat and Dulux Wash&Wear®.
