How to test and visualise colour

When choosing paint colours for your home, it can be difficult to know where to start – but Dulux offers a range of solutions to help you find your perfect match. Explore our range of colour samples and visualisation tools to make choosing paint colours a breeze.

Follow 6 easy steps to get you started.

With more than 4,800 Dulux paint colours available, narrowing down the perfect palette for your home is no easy feat. Thankfully, there are many ways to test and visualise our colour options – perhaps even without picking up a paintbrush!

From paint sample pots, colour chips and our in-store colour walls to large colour swatches and non-marking stickers, here's what you need to know about sampling Dulux paint colours.

Colour swatches and stickers

To explore colour without the commitment, our large, A4 and DL size colour swatches are available in nearly all of our 4,800 colour options and can be purchased online.

These swatches allow you to sample colours around your home and in different types of lighting. And, our non-marking colour stickers are available in our 80 most popular paint colour selections.

Sample pots

For a more hands-on approach, Dulux Colour Sample Pots are available to purchase online in 100ml sizes, allowing you to test your chosen colour on a variety of surfaces. Or, for sample pots in larger sizes, visit your local paint stockist.

Our samples provide a great way for you to see how the application looks before you commit to your chosen colour.

Dulux colour visualisation tool

The fastest way to sample colour is with the Dulux colour visualisation tool. Available on select colour pages, or start visualising now, the tool can help you see how different paint colours can transform a space.

With just a few clicks, you can instantly visualise new colours, browse different palette options and explore how you can bring your next paint project to life.

In-store colour wall

If you’re unsure what you’re looking for, our in-store colour walls can be a great place to start. Carrying a selection of our most popular and most loved paint colours, colour walls can be found at your local Bunnings store as well as Dulux paint stockists.

Colour walls feature warm colours on the left with cool tones on the right, and the more vibrant hues at the top. If it's whites and neutrals you're looking for, you may find a separate panel showcasing our most popular white and neutral shades.

Colour chips

Our triple-colour chips feature monochromatic schemes designed to help you determine the right shade or create a cohesive palette for your space.

Chip 1 is an example of tonal variations of one colour, whereas chip 2 showcases the same colour in three different strengths. For each option, you might consider using the top or middle colour as a feature wall, and using the bottom as the primary wall colour or trim throughout the rest of the room you plan to paint.

Dulux Colour Design Service

Still unsure? Dulux Colour Designers can support you to explore your options and take the guesswork out of colour selection with in-home or online colour consultations.

Our qualified interior designers will work to harmonise your home with the right colour and finishing options. For in-home visits, they will join you for a home walkthrough to assess the right colour for your home’s unique light conditions, while our online service lets you share your vision through photos or virtual walkthroughs.
